Alex Jordan

Alex joined the Board of Skateboard England in 2019 when the organisation was in its infancy. Though he had previously founded The Skateparks Project, supporting councils and communities coming together to build skateparks, this was his first role in sports governance and a steep learning curve. He was subsequently appointed Chair of Skateboard England and Skateboard GB, merging the two organisations into Skateboard GB in 2020.

In the years since, Alex has helped grow and develop the organisation from start-up to scale-up. This has meant leading a shift in Board dynamics from being operationally hands-on, supporting a two-person team, to becoming a mature, governance-focused Board overseeing 20 employees and full compliance with the Code for Sports Governance.

Alex’s professional background is digital, marketing and tech, rather than sport or governance. His first experience as a sports Chair has been greatly enriched by the support and mentorship of others across the sector. He has benefited from guidance provided by fellow Chairs, system partners and formal development opportunities, and is currently enrolled on the Chartered Governace Institute's Certificate in Sports Governance.

In 2024, Alex was appointed to the Board of the Sport and Recreation Alliance - a fantastic opportunity to broaden his governance knowledge and experience within the sector.
