Safeguarding and welfare

NSPCC Sport works to build a caring, inclusive culture where children and young people can thrive and enjoy themselves by discovering all kinds of sports and physical activities – whatever their level or ability.

It is funded by UK sports councils to support, advise and train sports bodies, physical activity providers and leisure operators, as well as parents and carers. Because safeguarding in sport is a team effort.

It works with the sport and physical activity sector to:

  • provide tailored training and consultancy to professionals and volunteers in sport
  • make sure sport and activity organisations give the highest level of protection to children and young people
  • support organisations to meet their nationally-recognised Safeguarding Standards
  • develop practical support and advice for parents and carers through the Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport campaign

Children’s sport should be exciting, fulfilling and fun. But most of all, it should be safe.
