Advanced Minute Taking

This one-day course is for those with 3+ years of experience of taking minutes and/or for minute takers whose minutes will be published who want to improve the quality and value of their minutes and to ensure they can be understood through a retrospective lens.  You will learn tools and techniques to take high-quality, technical minutes in pressurised environments in which sensitivity, accuracy, speed, and ethics all add to the complexity, the role technology could play in supporting your approach and how to work together with key stakeholders to support the minute taking process.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

1. Apply approaches to taking high-quality, technical minutes that stand the test of time.
2. Understand the complexities of minute taking in sensitive and challenging situations.
3. Apply the appropriate level of detail required for various governance scenarios.
4. Work effectively with the chair and other key stakeholders to increase the strategic value of your minutes.
5. Understand the benefits and drawbacks of using different technologies and AI tools to support your minute taking.

Laura is a Chartered Governance professional with over 20 years’ experience of working for FTSE100 and FTSE250 organisations. During her career, Laura has gained a wealth of experience in the boardroom and has served as a trusted adviser to Boards and executive management teams. Recognised as a 'Board Influencer' in the Governance Hot100, she brings empathy, energy and warmth to her work as a coach, sought after trainer and a governance shoulder to lean on.

Laura is the Founder and Director of The CoSec Coach, a unique coaching and governance consultancy business which aims to elevate the value of governance within all organisations. Laura creates and delivers interactive classroom, online and bespoke training on a range of topics and is a regular speaker at governance events.

Laura is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland and an Associate member of the Institute of Directors. She holds a post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and a BA (Hons) in Law & Legal Studies with History from the University of South Wales.

Laura has recently embarked on the IAPP’s AI Governance Professional certification and holds a Bronze level accreditation in Performance Coaching.
