Meet Dr. Mustafa Sarkar, Associate Professor of Sport and Performance Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. Mustafa will be talking to us about rethinking resilience in sport.
Dr Mustafa Sarkar is an Associate Professor of Sport and Performance Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. His research addresses the psychology of performance excellence with a particular focus on resilience (individual, team, and organisational) and psychological safety. According to Scopus, he is the most published researcher in the world on resilience and sport, and he has also been ranked in the top 2% of sport/exercise scientists worldwide in 2023 and 2024 according to composite citation index (c-index) data.
In addition to extensively publishing research in this area, as a Chartered Psychologist, Dr Sarkar works closely with teams and organisations on creating environments and cultures to develop resilience and psychological safety to ultimately enable sustained success and well-being, including Google, the Premier League, the Football Association, and various international Olympic Committees. Dr Sarkar is a well sought after and experienced global consultant and keynote speaker across various high-performance contexts including elite sport, business, police, and education.
