Scottish Surfing

The Scottish Surfing Federation (Scottish Surfing) has transformed its governance in just 16 months, introducing its first strategy, risk framework alongside nine specialist sub-committees to improve decision-making, inclusion and accountability. These changes increased volunteer engagement and diversity, with the organisation’s first female Directors and Independent Chairs appointed.

Recognised by sportscotland and auditors BDO for setting new standards in sports governance, Scottish Surfing earned an “Outstanding” governance rating and helped shape a new national audit framework. The organisation now aims to build on this progress through its 2026–2029 strategy.
