Junaid Syed

Junaid Syed is Legal & Governance Counsel at England Golf, having joined in 2025 shortly after qualifying as a solicitor. He previously worked in legal roles at Manchester United and São Paulo FC, and holds a master's degree in Sports Law from ISDE in Spain.

At England Golf, Junaid works on commercial agreements and governance matters affecting clubs, counties and the wider game. He has supported contractual arrangements creating new opportunities for golfers progressing towards professional golf, and developed guidance to help clubs respond to disabled golfers' requests to use buggies. He has also produced club assessment tools for colleagues and is leading an organisation-wide project to improve oversight of more than 200 policies and guidance documents.

In 2026, he achieved a Distinction in the Sports Governance Academy's Level 4 Certificate in Sports Governance and attended the Court of Arbitration for Sport Summer Academy. Outside England Golf, he mentors aspiring solicitors and has been a Legal Trustee at Birmingham Outreach Foundation since 2016, supporting people facing homelessness and hunger.
